Robort Gotobed rejoined the lineup in the late ’90s, and Wire is still going at it. As I write these words I’m listening to Red Barked Tree, their newest album, released earlier this year—and true to form, it doesn’t sound quite like anything else they’ve ever done. Decades after most of their contemporaries have called it a day, Wire—much like Mark E. Smith of The Fall—are still adhering to that Post-Punk ethic, always growing, always changing, always turning towards the next thing.
